If you want to look glowing every single day, you need to know these sensational foundation hacks.
You’ll be able to create showstopping, flawless skin even if you need to use concealer to disguise those pesky imperfections.
Use our top tips and tricks to create a beautiful finish every time and you’ll never look back!
#1 Use two shades of foundation
Most of us tend to stick to one foundation, but using two shades can create a stunning highlighted look.
Use two shades similar to your natural skin tone – use the lighter shade over your chin, cheekbones and browbone to highlight your features. Use the darker shade over your imperfections and anywhere else that requires coverage.
#2 Mist + brush
To create a skin like finish, spray a fluffy face brush with facial mist and gently press over your face after foundation application. This provides a natural finish, preventing cakiness.
#3 Apply from the centre
Apply foundation from the centre of your face working outwards. Start with your nose, forehead and chin, working out towards your cheeks, hairline and jawline.
#4 Blend with a sponge
Blend your foundation using a sponge. Use dabbing motions where you need to blend.
#5 Prep your skin
No matter what skin type you have, prepping your skin for foundation is a must!
Mix your day moisturiser with a facial oil and apply straight to the skin. It’ll give you a gorgeous, glowing complexion.
Follow with your base products – just remember to use a mattifying foundation and powder if you have oily skin.
#6 Keep it light
If you hate heavy foundations, mix your foundation with your moisturiser. This will create a lighter base and help your skin to breathe.
#7 A subtle glow
If you adore a glowy base, try mixing your foundation with a pea sized amount of liquid highlighter.
#8 Set your base
To make your foundation last all day, set it with a powder. If you have oily or combination skin, use a mattifying powder and dust lightly over your t-zone (forehead, nose and chin). This will keep your base looking natural.
If you have dry or mature skin, use a hydrating powder and dust very lightly over your makeup.
#9 Use as an eye primer
Did you know you can use your foundation as an eyeshadow primer? Simply apply a small amount of foundation over your eyelids and blend.
If you have oily eyelids, press a little matte powder over the top to make your shadow looking fresher for longer.
#10 Less is more
If you need a high coverage base, start by applying a thin layer of foundation.
Once you’ve added one layer over your complexion, you can determine if you require another layer. Keep building thin layers until you have obtained the coverage you desire.
Creating a beautiful base isn’t always easy, but following our top tips and tricks will help you perfect your foundation routine with ease.
